Group and Event Travel in Minnesota
The Hilton Minneapolis in Minneapolis leads the biggest hotels you can book through Engine in Minnesota, with 821 rooms. The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake (766 rooms) and the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis (644 rooms) are close behind. Teams and groups planning conferences and events turn to these properties when they need a large number of rooms in a single location.
Large-capacity hotels matter across Minnesota because conferences, corporate events, and group travel depend on properties that can house a large group in one place, and the state's biggest hotels span downtown Minneapolis and the Prior Lake area rather than sitting in just one spot. Minnesota is home to a wide base of corporate headquarters and health care institutions, along with a strong convention and meetings calendar centered on the Twin Cities. These hotels serve organizations of every size and industry booking room blocks, from small teams to full-property events. Engine lists these hotels alongside the rest of the state's inventory, and Engine Groups handles bookings of 9 or more rooms, while stays of 8 rooms or fewer are self-serve.
Frequently asked questions
Why would I choose a bigger hotel in Minnesota for a company event or conference?
A hotel with several hundred rooms can house your entire group under one roof, which simplifies logistics and keeps attendees close to meeting spaces. Many of the largest properties also offer ballrooms, breakout rooms, and flexible floor plans that scale to your agenda. Consolidating everyone in a single building reduces shuttle coordination and makes it easier to manage late changes or last-minute additions to your roster.
What room count makes a hotel one of the biggest in Minnesota?
Hotels at the top of the list in Minnesota run from around 640 rooms to more than 800. For example, Hilton Minneapolis has 821 rooms, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake offers 766, and Hyatt Regency Minneapolis provides 644. That scale gives you plenty of capacity for large groups and the flexibility to book multiple room types across several floors.
Which Minnesota cities have the most large hotels?
Minneapolis is home to many of the state's biggest properties, including Hilton Minneapolis and Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. Prior Lake, just southwest of the Twin Cities, also offers a large option with Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. When you search on Engine, you can filter by city and room count to compare inventory across the state.
Do the biggest hotels in Minnesota work for solo business travelers, or are they only for groups?
Large hotels serve both. A property with 600 or 800 rooms typically hosts individual business travelers alongside conferences and group blocks, so you will find standard amenities like business centers, fitness rooms, and on-site dining. You can book a single room at any of these properties through Engine, and if your company later needs nine or more rooms for a project, Engine Groups takes over the coordination.
How early should I book a block of rooms at a large Minnesota hotel?
For a group of nine or more rooms, reach out through Engine Groups as soon as your dates are firm, ideally several months ahead for peak seasons or citywide events. Large properties can accommodate big blocks, but availability tightens when multiple conferences overlap. For eight rooms or fewer, you can book self-serve on the platform and still secure pre-negotiated rates and consolidated invoicing.
