How Group Hotel Rates Work in Minneapolis
A group hotel booking in Minneapolis means reserving nine or more rooms at one hotel for the same dates, whether for a team traveling together, a tournament, a training cohort, or a company event. These hotels are listed because groups have booked them through Engine, and they can accommodate a room block. For nine or more rooms, you can request a group quote through Engine Groups.
When a group books 9 or more rooms for the same dates in Minneapolis, the hotel quotes a group rate for the block instead of its public rate. The block holds the rooms until a cutoff date, then travelers are assigned to rooms. You can search, compare, and book these hotels on Engine. For 9 or more rooms, Engine Groups handles the room-block booking; 8 or fewer rooms is self-serve. Hotels like the AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis Downtown with 245 rooms and the Emery, Autograph Collection Hotel with 229 rooms have handled group stays before.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a group hotel booking in Minneapolis?
A group booking is 9 or more rooms for the same dates. When you need a block that size, Engine Groups handles the request and books the rooms for you. If you need 8 rooms or fewer, you can book them yourself on Engine.
How far in advance should I request a room block in Minneapolis?
Request as early as you can if your dates overlap with a convention, tournament, or peak season. Hotels fill up quickly during busy periods, and a room block reserves your group's rooms before inventory tightens. For quieter times, a few weeks of lead time is usually enough, but more notice gives you better options.
Can these hotels accommodate a group of 9 or more rooms?
The hotels on this list have the room count and have handled group stays before. AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis Downtown, Emery Autograph Collection, and W Minneapolis - The Foshay are among the larger properties. Still, confirm availability for your specific dates when you submit your request.
How does billing work for a group stay booked through Engine?
Engine offers consolidated invoicing so you can pay for the entire block in one transaction, or travelers can pay individually. You have multiple payment options, and there is no membership fee to use Engine.
How does a room block work and why does the cutoff date matter?
A room block holds a set number of rooms for your group until a cutoff date set by the hotel. Before that date, you assign travelers to the rooms you've reserved. After the cutoff, the hotel releases any unclaimed rooms back into general inventory, so you lose the ability to use them for your group.
Why don't you show rates for these hotels?
Hotels give Engine rates they only allow us to show business travelers, so a public page cannot list them. Create a free account with your work email to see them.
Is Engine free?
Yes. An Engine account is 100% free and without commitment, and you can leave anytime. Sign up with your work email.
