Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a wedding hotel in Honolulu that's convenient for my ceremony and reception?
Start by thinking about where your ceremony will be held and how far your guests will need to travel. Hotels with substantial event space, like the Hilton Vacation Club The Modern Honolulu (about 9,100 square feet in The Ballroom, 10 event spaces) or The Kahala Hotel & Resort (about 8,800 square feet in the Maile Ballroom, 8 event spaces), can host both your reception and accommodate out-of-town guests under one roof. If your ceremony is at a separate location, look for properties near that venue or near the airport serving Honolulu to make arrivals easier for everyone.
How far in advance should I book a room block for my destination wedding in Honolulu?
For a destination wedding, it's smart to reserve your guest-room block as early as possible, ideally six to twelve months out. That gives your guests time to make travel plans and helps you secure rooms at pre-negotiated rates. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you'll have in choosing the right property and ensuring availability during your preferred dates.
What should I compare when deciding where to put my wedding guests?
Compare the number of guest rooms, proximity to your ceremony or reception venue, and on-site amenities. For example, the Hilton Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa offers 601 rooms and 22 event spaces, while The Kahala Hotel & Resort has 338 rooms and 8 event spaces. Also consider whether the hotel can accommodate your reception if you're planning to hold it on-site, and look at options for welcome events or day-after brunches in their event spaces.
Can Engine help me book both the guest rooms and the reception space?
Yes. For a block of 9 or more guest rooms, Engine Groups handles the room-block booking with consolidated invoicing and pre-negotiated rates. The hotel's event and reception space can be searched, compared, and booked through Engine Spaces, a free marketplace of hotel meeting and event spaces. Catering, coordination, and other wedding services are arranged with the hotel or your vendors directly.
How do I reserve a block of rooms for out-of-town guests?
If you need 9 or more rooms, Engine Groups manages the booking for you with consolidated invoicing and multiple payment options. For 8 rooms or fewer, you can book self-serve through Engine's platform. Either way, you'll get access to pre-negotiated rates and no membership fee, making it easier to accommodate everyone traveling in for your big day.
